Chickens - Week 3

They are curious little things. They pecked the camera and jumped when the flash went off!

Well our little brood is about 3 weeks old and rapidly outgrowing their box. We're hoping the weather will stay warm so we can build a chicken coop and keep the chickens outside.

Eggs

We colored eggs for the first time in years. It took a few minutes to convince Connor he wouldn't have an allergic reaction to touching a hard boiled egg. Once Connor understood it was OK he colored them like crazy. Connor loved to hide them over the next several days. We had to keep reminding him to put them back in the fridge when he was done!

Grandma & Grandpa Ruiz

On Good Friday we had an opportunity to go visit with Angela's Grandma & Grandpa Ruiz. We had fun and ate way too much Mexican food at El Burrito Loco.

It's time to raise the sides of the chicken box. This morning we found one of them perched on the top edge of their box.

They are a little over one week old. They are growing lots of feathers and eating all of the time. We gave them a worm and watched the chaos begin. The boys laughed and laughed as the chicks tried to steal the worm from each other.

We got chickens! Two Rhode Island Red and two Barred Rock.
