A Little Trip

We made another trip to the St. Louis area.

On our trip we ran into three different lines of storms.
Storms with lots of warnings.  Storms you don't want to drive in.
Thankfully we only drove through the outer edges.
This picture is from the first one.  It had quite an impressive shelf cloud.

Always have to take a picture of the arch!

We visited Castlewood State Park.
The weather was gorgeous...
especially for March!

Got all four boys to sit for a picture...
that's the only time they sat still!

Frog Spot

There is this place about 1 mile south of our house that we call "frog spot".
We walk there frequently in the warm weather months.
It's a special treat to hear God's little creatures
singing as loud as possible to each other.
The sound is absolutely deafening.  It makes my ears rattle.
They are on both sides of the road so its surround sound!

It is very difficult to actually see one of these frogs even though
it seems that you are completely surrounded by them.
You have to be very quiet.  They are very shy and
God gave them very good camouflage!
This is the first time in all the years we have been here
that we actually saw one of these little guys.
I was so excited... and I had my camera with me!!!

I think he was only about an inch long... tiny little thing.

This video sort of gives you the idea... it just doesn't do it justice.

P.S.  I just did some research and discovered this frog is a Spring Peeper.
It can change color from light tan to dark brown... no wonder they are so difficult to find!

Outdoor Classroom

Someone asked if we could do our lessons outside.
Why not?  It's way too nice to be inside.

Rosie kept scooting closer and closer to Nolan until she
finally rested her head on his side.  Goofy dog.

Finally

It was finally warm enough to enjoy the new porch.
Dwayne drug out two rocking chairs and
we just sat enjoying the fresh air.
The boys drug out two buildings and an army.

I love the guy in the doorway.

They had quite a battle going.  Lots of fun.

The babysitter.. as seen from the porch.  I still get a kick out of watching the cows.
This cow was the "sitter" while all the others went to the ditch for a drink.
She was watching five calves.  The fifth one is behind her.
Didn't he know I was trying to take a picture?

Confectioneries for Connor

Ok.  First these were not just for Connor.  They were for all of us.
Second, these are really yummy.
I am always searching for recipes that the whole family can safely eat.
This was a peanut butter ball recipe that I came
across that was easy to convert to Connor safe.
Thank God for Sunbutter and EnjoyLife Chocolate Chips!

This and That

Nolan working on a drawing of an avocado.

Connor working on his art project.  He learned to blend colors.

Our goofy Rosie.
She sits like this quite often.

When she's not laying at the foot of the patio door she's here at the lookout.
I wonder if she's waiting for Dwayne's parents to come and do chores?
They bring her a snack quite often.
