Tennessee Trip Part 5

Last and certainly not least, we stopped at
Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.
We stayed quite a while and still didn't see everything.

Rocks above the falls.

Looking below the falls.

Nolan said this rock formation looked like an alligator head.
Now that's all I see!

We did the tourist thing and let the boys "mine" for treasures.
They really enjoyed this... as you can see from their smiles.

Tennessee Trip Part 4

The trip home...
We left for home early in the morning so we could
make some planned stops along the way.
The kids slept most of the morning :)

Our first stop was the Abraham Lincoln Library and Museum.
They weren't actually open yet but they were kind enough to let us in!
We had the whole museum to ourselves, how cool is that?
It's not a big museum but it's full of really cool stuff!

You don't realize how tall he is until you stand next to him!

The upper level had some fun things..
..like putting your mug in the large five dollar bill.

Tennessee Trip Part 3

Visiting
We like to visit people and places while were there.

One foggy morning.

Uncle Earl, Buster, and Connor on the porch.
Special thanks to our hosts, Uncle Earl & Aunt Kathy
for putting up with us for the week.

A visit to the fish hatchery.

A visit with Aunt Shirley.

A visit with Uncle Ray and Aunt Gladys.

A view of the Appalachian Mountain range.

A visit to Veterans Park.

Tennessee Trip Part 2

Swimming and playing... what else should boys do?

I personally thought it was too cold to get in the pool.
The boys braved the chilly water and asked, "Mom,
are you coming in?  The water's f-f-f ine."
You'll notice that they are mostly ON the water and not IN it!

Can you say STATIC?

They had entirely too much fun on this.

Tennessee Trip Part 1

Every year we go to Tennessee we stop at Bean Station... aka Clinch Mountain.
It's a beautiful spot to get out and stretch your legs.
The kids always call Grandma & Grandpa Schultz from here.

On the way home we stopped at the Clinch Mountain water pipe.
It has fresh mountain water flowing out of it almost all the time.
We stopped so the kids could feel how cold the water was and
as soon as they opened the van door they smelled a skunk.
Needless to say they felt the water and
got back in the van as fast as they could!
