I'm not really sure what to say about this picture other than
I was messing with my camera settings and it looks cool.
We took a filed trip.. to a field. No kidding.
We went to Kankakee Sands.
It's restored prarie land about 15 minutes from our house.
The hike we went on was in the Dry Prarie.
The trail wound around a field and up a hill with a nice view.
Not much of anything was green yet, except for these cacti.
Apparently cactus plants were once native on the sand hills in our area.
We were told these get pretty yellow blooms.
We'll have to go back to see them.
I made some peanut butter Sunbutter frosting.
It was super yummy!
Our neighbor's cattle are currently residing in the field behind our house.
I'll admit that this city slicker likes to watch the calves. They can be quite entertaining.
These calves are in what I call the "play pen".
It's an area that is fenced off from the barn lot, boar pen, and the field.
The calves can walk right under the electric wire on the field side and
play in there... much to the dismay of the cows that cannot.
These five calves were curious about the boar.
Wherever the boar went, the calves followed on their side of the fence.
It was quite comical to watch them go from one end to the other and back again.
Our cat finally had her first litter of kittens.
There are four of them and thankfully they have homes already!
Our much loved Casey.
I saw a sign I would love to have regarding dogs.
It reads, "Dog can't hold it's licker."
This is especially true of Labs.
She's such a good dog. So gentle and loving.
