Lesson Learned

Remember this caterpillar?

Eight days later he had grown to this size.
Pretty amazing when you think about it.
It made a chrysalis the next day.

Did you know that a tobacco worm will eat a monarch chrysalis?
Me either.
Made me mad too.
If I had any idea it would do that I would have never
put him in the butterfly cage with the chrysalis.
This worm is similar to the tomato worm.
The only difference is the color of the spike.
If it's black, it's a tomato worm.
If it's red, it's a tobacco worm.
They both turn into a sphynx month, which are really cool...
until their pupa eat your monarch chrysalis.
We took the tobacco worm back outside.
Lesson learned.
