Once we left Cumberland Falls it was only a few hours to Erwin.
Of course we took our time and made a few stops along the way.
We even managed to hit a flea market too!
I know I take a picture of this tunnel every year. It fascinates me.
Last year Nolan slept through the tunnel and woke up soon after we arrived on the other side.
He proceeded to ask to be woke up so he wouldn't miss it. Um too late son you missed it.
So this year we made sure he was awake.
One of the cool things about this tunnel is that it's on the Kentucky/Tennessee border.
It's kind of fun leaving one state and entering another via the tunnel.
I have no clue where this is except somewhere in Tennessee.
It's where you start to see the mountain range.
Our traditional stop at Clinch Mountain.
We've decided that they need to trim the trees so you can see the little island.
The island can still be seen but you have to move to a different spot.
This year we noticed they added benches.
It's a great idea but you have to either climb the wall or
walk around the length of the wall to get to them.
It's nice to have kids that can take your picture.
I think this is somewhere between Greeneville and Erwin.
I could stare at those mountains all day.
We spent the early afternoon visiting some family in Erwin then headed to Newport.
Our plan was to stay in Newport for four nights and
head back to Erwin for the remainder of our time.
Our gracious hosts while we stayed in Newport.
Not just hosts... friends and tour guides too!
They drove us all over the place.
You guys are awesome!
We love ya!
