That's New

We've decided to call the flood water behind the house a lake.
Now we joke about having lake front property.
Several aquatic animals have moved in.
There are countless frogs that sing to us every night.
Ducks are found swimming to their heart's content.
Earlier in the week we had this guy walking around the entire lake.
I'm pretty sure it's a great blue heron.
Pepper didn't like him one bit.

This was taken before we had 2 1/2" of more rain.
The rows of mud are covered with water again.
Our basement stayed dry, but the yard had giant puddles once more.

This is our dog, Lounges.
She is resting in what used to be the deck of our back steps.
The fifteen year temporary back steps.
We've put up new temporary steps.
We hope to have a permanent solution quicker than fifteen years.
That's the goal anyway.

Why is there a picture of a pig in a blanket?
Connor has never had one.
Until today.

He has been trying all sorts of new foods.
We know that pigs in a blanket are not healthy.
It's more of a right of passage of childhood.

In case you have never heard, Connor loves toads.
Thankfully, he greatly dislikes bugs.
I'd much rather have a jar of toads than a jar of bugs in my house.

This is Nolan with our dog, Foot Monster.
Since she was little, she has "attacked" feet,
especially if socks are involved.
The boys coaxed her to get on the swing.
And yes, we had her move so her leg wasn't precariously hanging underneath.
